A violent robbery in broad daylight at a central Limassol area is being investigated by the local CID as a man was lured into a meeting for the purchase of cryptocurrency, only to be hit across the head and have his money stolen.

As the victim testified, he had set up the exchange with two men at noon, carrying 100 thousand euro in cash to buy the cryptocurrency. As he was waiting in the car, one of the two individuals run up to him and managed blows over his face, grabbed a backpack containing the amount and fled on foot.

The second man involved, keeping watch at the scene, was apprehended by the victim until police arrived. The 31 year old was subsequently arrested while the suspect with the cash is still being sought.

The Limassol CID is conducting interviews with locals who might have witnessed the incident and is looking for possible accomplices of the robbers.
