DANBURY — Six men from Florida were arrested after police say they rescued two victims of what appeared to be a targeted kidnapping Sunday.

Police received a call for a disturbance near Clapboard Ridge Road Sunday at approximately 5:40 p.m., according to a news release from the Danbury Police Department. Upon arrival, police said a witness reported seing three males exit a van, begin assaulting another man, then pushing him into the van before the van fled.

Officers spotted the van on Clapboard Ridge Road and attempted to stop it, police said, but the driver sped away. The vehicle was then located not far away on Cowperthwaite Street, police said.

The two victims "bound with duct tape" were found inside the van, police said, and one had been hit with a baseball bat. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment, police said, but neither faced life-threatening injuries.
