StellarCrowandClaude Fable 5.1 439e83a4cb feat(sources): Wayback pass, automatic trimming, detention rule, ten cases re-sourced 
Second and third rounds on the dossier pipeline, reviewed locally before commit.

Retrieval
- wayback_pass.py: retries every BLOCKED/DEAD/THIN/ERROR linked source through
  the Wayback Machine; blocks carry the snapshot date, archive URL and the live
  verdict. 143 slots retried: 93 fetched, 37 no snapshot, 12 script shells, 1 PDF.
- fetch_sources.py: fetch_wayback() helper.
- add_extra_sources.py: files staged extra_* finds (web search, not on the DB
  record) into the store with a provenance note.
- Cases re-sourced by web search: 248 (Oslo: Document.no, Avisa Oslo, NRK; the
  linked Le Parisien piece is case 242 and is marked OFF-CASE), 258 Kharkiv,
  260 Singapore, 358 Bangkok, 365 Las Vegas, 388 Verneuil-sur-Seine, 390 Zoersel,
  430 Homestead. 341 of 364 cases now hold a fetched article; 11, 66 and 399
  have no public text source (podcast, police video, direct victim report).

Trimming
- auto_trim.py: case-anchored furniture cut for UNTRIMMED blocks. Finds the body
  run that mentions the case, merges across subheadings and short furniture
  gaps, drops teasers, share bars, date/URL/caption lines and subscription
  pitches; refuses pages with no record term or almost no body. 302 blocks
  trimmed; 16 left on auto-trim-review.md (7 OFF-CASE suspects). Every cut is
  labelled AUTO-TRIMMED, UNREVIEWED in the dossier; the full extract stays in
  staging/. Decisions with anchors in trim-decisions-auto.json.
- build_cases.py / verify_all.py: banners for auto-trimmed and archived blocks,
  staged-file check extended to Wayback blocks, flag legend under the record.

Detention rule
- README "Definitions": the DB field `kidnappings` is the DETENTION violence
  type (victim, guard, staff or relative held to force submission or execute
  the theft), distinct from the Kidnapping scenario (taken away and held).
- detention-flag-review.md / detention-flag-corrections.json: 40 records
  reviewed with evidence; 30 set-to-1 proposals accepted by the owner on
  2026-09-06 (listed in corrections-approved.md), 10 still open.
- apply_detention_wording.py: "Violence Used" in the 70 reviewed summaries now
  names detention explicitly (62 of 70 labelled), supported by the summary's
  own text; idempotent; supersedes the batch scripts' wording.

Worklist and docs
- sofia-worklist.md: 248 decisions, detention rule item replacing the old
  "no abduction" item, fresh-search section for the textless cases.
- README-START-HERE.md: progress notes, run commands, next steps.
- Bug fixed in passing: Wayback blocks stored in-memory text with carriage
  returns; now stored as read back from disk.

verify_all.py PASSES (2321 checks).

Both suspects have declined to comment on the allegations.
According to a previous report, Nishida had met Noda, a resident of Nagoya, at a seminar about virtual currencies. On June 18, she disappeared following a different seminar in Kasugai City, Aichi. That night, she was seen boarding a vehicle registered to Nishida at JR Ogaki Station in Gifu.
On July 30, police found Noda's smartphone and bag during a search of the vehicle and residence of Nishida. The body of Noda was found buried the following day. Police then arrested the suspects on suspicion of abandoning the body of Noda.
Respiratory failure
The results of an autopsy revealed the cause of death of Noda to be respiratory failure brought about by pressure applied to the neck.

SHIGA (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have accused two persons of abandoning the corpse of a missing woman from Nagoya in a mountainous area of Shiga Prefecture earlier this year, reports Nippon News Network (Aug. 1).
On around June 20, Ichiya Nishida, a 20-year-old resident of Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, and an 18-year-old boy from Shiga, allegedly buried the body of Miyuki Noda, 53, who went missing two days before, in a forested area of the town of Taga.
Nishida and the other suspect, who have been accused of abandoning a corpse, admit to the allegations. On Monday evening, a team of about 80 officers working off information provided by the suspects unearthed the body of Noda.
Virtual currencies
Nishida had previously met Noda at a seminar about virtual currencies, police said. Prior to his arrest, he had been undergoing voluntary questioning in the case. On Sunday, police found Noda’s smartphone and bag during a search of the vehicle and residence of Nishida.

AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police revealed on Thursday that a missing woman whose body was found buried in the mountains of Shiga Prefecture earlier this week was likely killed on the day she went missing in June, a crime possibly motivated by an attempt to gain the victim’s virtual currency bitcoin, reports the Chunichi Shimbun (Aug. 3).
On Tuesday, Ichiya Nishida, a 20-year-old resident of Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, and an 18-year-old boy from Shiga, were prosecuted for allegedly burying the body of Miyuki Noda, 53, in a forested area of the town of Taga.
On June 18, Noda disappeared following a seminar about selling food products and cosmetics over the internet in Kasugai City, Aichi. After the event, she told participants that she was going to meet an acquaintance. That night, she was seen boarding a vehicle registered to Nishida at JR Ogaki Station in Gifu.
In newly released information, messages to Noda’s Line account on her smartphone stopped being marked as “read” about two hours after she boarded the vehicle. As well, it is known that Nishida returned to Gifu the following morning without Noda. Police believe that she was killed shortly after she entered the vehicle.

According to the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan, the number of victims targeted in get-rich-quick marketing schemes involving virtual currencies has exploded over the past three years.
The schemes typically recruit attendees by claiming to provide the know-how to boost an initial investment substantially over a short period through virtual currencies, such as bitcoin. Problems arise when the returns are not realized and since attendees recruit other members to attend in exchange for remuneration, making the operations akin to pyramid schemes.
