Calgary police are asking the public to help identify a suspect linked to a violent home invasion earlier this week in the southwest community of Canyon Meadows.

Around midnight on April 13, two men armed with handguns forced their way into an apartment in the 11600 block of Elbow Drive S.W., police said.

The men tied up the apartment’s resident and stole computers, jewelry and bank cards from the suite. They also took cryptocurrency keys, which allow holders access to digital financial accounts.

The men forced the victim to disclose his bank PINs, then put him in a storage room and fled.
|
||
The victim, who sustained minor injuries, was able to free himself and call 911, police said.
|
||
A man later used one of the victim’s bank cards to withdraw money at an ATM in Crescent Heights, near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Centre Street N.E. The ATM recorded an image of the man, who is unknown to the victim.

Anyone with information on the crime or the suspects is urged to call the police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or calgarycrimestoppers.org.

Police ask for help to identify home invasion suspect

We are investigating a violent home invasion that occurred in the community of Canyon Meadows.
|
||
Around midnight the evening of April 13, 2021, two men carrying handguns forced their way into an apartment in the 11600 block of Elbow Drive S.W. The men tied the resident up and stole jewelry, bank cards, computers and cryptocurrency keys that allow access to financial accounts.
|
||
The victim was forced to provide his PIN numbers to the suspects before being confined to a storage room. The suspects left and the victim was able to free himself to call 9-1-1. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

||
It is believed that a man unknown to the victim then withdrew money using the victim's bank card a short time later from an ABM in Crescent Heights, near the intersection of 12 Avenue and Centre Street N.E. We are releasing a photo taken by the ABM in the hopes that someone can help identify the suspect.

The Calgary Police Service has shared a picture of a man they believe is linked to an armed home invasion in Canyon Meadows Tuesday night.
|
||
|
||
In a news release on Friday, police said two suspects forced their way into an apartment in the 11600 block of Elbow Drive S.W. around midnight on April 13.
|
||
|
||
According to CPS, the two men were carrying handguns, and once inside the apartment, tied up the resident and stole a number of items including “jewelry, bank cards, computers and cryptocurrency keys that allow access to financial accounts.”
|
||
|
||
“The victim was forced to provide his PIN numbers to the suspects before being confined to a storage room,” police said.
|
||
|
||
In the release, police explained the victim was able to “free himself” after the suspects left and called 911.

|
