Second and third rounds on the dossier pipeline, reviewed locally before commit. Retrieval - wayback_pass.py: retries every BLOCKED/DEAD/THIN/ERROR linked source through the Wayback Machine; blocks carry the snapshot date, archive URL and the live verdict. 143 slots retried: 93 fetched, 37 no snapshot, 12 script shells, 1 PDF. - fetch_sources.py: fetch_wayback() helper. - add_extra_sources.py: files staged extra_* finds (web search, not on the DB record) into the store with a provenance note. - Cases re-sourced by web search: 248 (Oslo: Document.no, Avisa Oslo, NRK; the linked Le Parisien piece is case 242 and is marked OFF-CASE), 258 Kharkiv, 260 Singapore, 358 Bangkok, 365 Las Vegas, 388 Verneuil-sur-Seine, 390 Zoersel, 430 Homestead. 341 of 364 cases now hold a fetched article; 11, 66 and 399 have no public text source (podcast, police video, direct victim report). Trimming - auto_trim.py: case-anchored furniture cut for UNTRIMMED blocks. Finds the body run that mentions the case, merges across subheadings and short furniture gaps, drops teasers, share bars, date/URL/caption lines and subscription pitches; refuses pages with no record term or almost no body. 302 blocks trimmed; 16 left on auto-trim-review.md (7 OFF-CASE suspects). Every cut is labelled AUTO-TRIMMED, UNREVIEWED in the dossier; the full extract stays in staging/. Decisions with anchors in trim-decisions-auto.json. - build_cases.py / verify_all.py: banners for auto-trimmed and archived blocks, staged-file check extended to Wayback blocks, flag legend under the record. Surveillance video from the shop shows the moment the truck, which was driving in reverse, crashed into the front of the store, shattering all of the glass and causing heavy damage. Then, several people jumped out of the truck and went inside the store.

SkyEye video from above the shop shows the entire front of the store wide open and the doors knocked down.

The owner of the shop told ABC13 several items were stolen, and thieves have targeted her store three or four times in the past.

HPD said it appeared that the suspects were trying to take a Bitcoin ATM, but were not successful.

The shop owner got an alert from her security system and saw what happened from her cameras. She rushed to the business and was devastated to see the damage.

"Please put in the jail, these crazy people. They are not safe. Because they do this almost three or four times. We do hard work and they just do a minute and mess up all things," Fehmida Ali said.

The owner of the stolen truck used in the attempted robbery showed up to the scene after getting a call from HPD. He told ABC13 his truck was stolen on Thursday from an apartment complex off Gessner and Bellaire.

The man said he does home renovation and all of his tools were stolen from the truck. He's upset that his truck was damaged, but thankful it's still drivable.

||
"They took everything from me. I don't have work right now and I have to look for a job," the truck owner said in Spanish.

||
HPD said seven suspects were detained and arrested at the scene and no injuries were reported. Investigators did not provide any further information about the people taken into custody.

The smoke shop will likely be closed for the next several days as the cleanup process continues, Ali said. She estimates that the total in damages and losses is around $10,000.

Bitcoin ATM targeted in Texas smash-and-grab
|
||
Criminals using a stolen pickup truck attempted to steal a Bitcoin ATM in a smash-and-grab raid in Texas, causing $10,000 worth of damage.
|
||

As announced by the Houston Police Department (HPD), seven people have been arrested after allegedly crashing the truck into the window of a smoke shop in the southwest of the city at 6am on Friday.
|
||
|
||
After crashing the truck, the group grabbed what they could but were unable to steal the ATM, according to police.
|
||
|
||
The gang also stole various tools from the truck’s owner, who told ABC, “They took everything from me. I don’t have work right now and I have to look for a job.”
|
||
|
||
|
||
The smoke shop owner estimates the damages will run close to $10,000. In an interview with ABC, she said, “Please put in the jail, these crazy people. They are not safe. Because they do this almost three or four times. We do hard work and they just do a minute and mess up all things.”

The shop will remain closed until repairs are complete. Police haven’t revealed any more details about the suspects.
